Commissioning and Operation
Ensure that the SSW-40 is
commissioned only by personnel
trained for this work and familiar with
the risks involved in commissioning the
SSW-40.
Read these instructions carefully before
setting up the SSW-40 and putting it
into service.

Danger of pinching/crushing feet!
Transporting and setting down heavy
components.
» NEVER step below moving

Separated pneumatic lines pose an
injury hazard!
» Do not fix any disconnected
pneumatic lines without
depressurizing the complete
pneumatic system.
» Protect yourself from leaks.
WARNING
Health hazards from service
products!
This symbol warns of health hazards
resulting from contact of service
products (e.g. lubricants, fluids) with
the skin, mucous membranes, eyes and
respiratory paths.
DANGER
Suspended load!
The falling load can cause severe, even
lethal injuries.
» NEVER stand under suspended
loads and in the swing area of
suspended loads.
WARNING

Safety Considerations
Safety considerations and checks
before initial operation
1. The SSW-40 and additional equipment have been
installed following the instructions in Chapter 3 -
Installation Checklist has been completed.
2. All covers attached and completely screwed down.
3. All screw connections tightened properly.
4. All screw retainers present.
5. All pneumatic connections are connected correctly
and laid securely.
6. No pneumatic line is damaged.
7. All lubrication points are lubricated properly
(„6.1 Lubrication“, on page 73).
8. During operation, keep a safe distance from the
SSW-40.
9. Before initial start-up and before every start of
operation, check for the proper function in order to
avoid accidents during operation!
10. Ensure that visual contact is always present between
the deck personnel, and the operator in the driller
cabin.
