This command configures the link layer encapsulation type for the packet.         

 

Syntax 

 

encapsulation {ethernet | snap}   

 

ethernet - 

The link layer encapsulation type is ethernet. 

snap - 

The link layer encapsulation type is SNAP. 

 

Default Setting 

The default value is ethernet. 

Command Mode 

Interface Config 

Restrictions 

Routed frames are always Ethernet encapsulated when a frame is routed to a VLAN.
