LST mode (On/Off)
The next information is regarding the type and state of connected remote device.
Following is the Down SLE and Up SLE status (On/Off), channel status
(Enable/Disable), and bandwidth values. Finally the device temperature and firmware
revision are displayed.
Device Control
This menu enables the user to change the local device’s configuration. Choosing
option 1 – will display the device status, as mentioned above. When choosing option
2 – the user can configure the FO loopback – on or off. Option 3 is used for configure
the TP loopback. Note that both loopback cannot be configured to ‘on’
simultaneously. Option 3 and option 4 are used to configure the LST modes of the
device. When selecting option 5 the user can enable or disable the channel. Option 7
is used to set the channel description. Option 8 is for restoring the factory defaults.
Selecting Option 9 is for rebooting the software. Before the reboot is performed, the
user is asked to enter a confirmation code (26974). Figure 6 displays the menu as it
appears on the terminal.

Link management
This section enables the user to configure the links’ parameters. The access to the
remote CPE is also done from here (option 2). When choosing option 3 the user is
prompted to configure the desired bandwidth. If there were a remote device connected,
both the upstream and downstream bandwidth would be configured. Option 4 is for
configuring the Upstream SLE mode (on/off), and option 5 is used for the Downstream
SLE (on/off). The last option is restore link defaults, which mean both the local and
remote devices would be affected. A confirmation code is required to perform that.
