By choosing option (2) in the S/W control menu the user can set the TFTP server’s IP
address. This parameter is saved in non-volatile memory for future upgrades and can
be changed at any time.
Option (3) provides the user the ability to choose the desired software version’s name.
Option (4) allows the user to set the path in which the remote file resides, on the TFTP
server. The path name is limited to 127 characters and may contain any number of
directory levels. If there is no need to use a path, make sure the path displays ‘- None
–‘. If this is not the case, clear the path by setting it to an empty string (set ‘’).
Option (5) sets the auto-reboot mode – On or Off. This mode determines whether the
system will automatically reboot after the upgrade is complete. If set to ‘Off’ and
upgrade process was performed, the download status will read ‘Complete’ and the
system will resume normal execution with the current version. This setting is saved in
non-volatile memory.
Option (6) invokes the upgrade process. During this process, the user is notified with
the different phases of the upgrade (download, file checksum test, flash erasure, flash
programming and program verification). Each of the phases may take some time to
complete and the progress is indicated via a dot-based ‘progress bar’. Failure during
any of the stages will result in an error message being displayed, after which normal
execution of the current version is resumed. If auto-reboot is set to ‘On’ the system will
automatically reboot after the upgrade process is complete and the new version will
execute.
Option (7) provides the user with the rollback version. The rollback version is the last
version executed before the upgrade. Notice that at first download there is no rollback
version in the system. At the end of this procedure a message is issued to inform that
is has been completed, and to indicate whether the reboot is being done or not,
depending on the auto-reboot setting.
Note that during part of the software upgrade process, system monitoring is paused
and resumed when the process is complete (or after the auto-reboot). It is therefore
highly recommended to perform this operation at non-critical times (e.g. during night).
If you are trying to log into the system while an upgrade is in progress you will receive
a ‘System busy…’ notification (with a dot progress bar). Login will be possible as soon
as the upgrade is complete.
