8.Software version control (remote upgrade via TFTP)
The software version control menu (figure 12) allows the user to view and set some
parameters that affect the software upgrade process and to perform the upgrade itself.
This menu enables you to remotely upgrade your device’s software to newer releases.
Depending on your network needs, it is recommended to check for new updates in the
FibroLAN website and perform the upgrade if necessary (based on the version’s
release notes).
A new version can be downloaded from the website and it should be then placed on
the root directory of your local TFTP server. Each version includes 2 image files with
similar names, the difference being the last character (either ‘h’ or ‘l’). The upgrade
process will automatically select the required file from these two. The user is only
required to select the version name.
Warning
After locating a new version’s image files on the TFTP server, DO NOT swap the file
names! This may result in upgrade failure. Simply, let the process be as automated as
possible.

Choosing option (1) on the menu will prompt the software upgrade configuration
display, as can be seen in figure 13. The display includes information about the TFTP
server’s IP address, the current version name, the rollback version name and the (new)
upgrade version name, the remote file name to be loaded, the auto-reboot mode
(on/off) and the upgrade status (Complete/Not started). The first time an upgrade is
performed, the rollback line will indicate “not available”, and if there is no version to
upgrade, the relevant line will indicate, “not configured”.
