With the SPC-10, movement from one fixed stop to the
other is closed-loop regulated. During commissioning,
the end positions (position of the fixed stops) are
”taught” by the SPC-10. During operation it then en-
sures that the slide moves at the highest possible
speed into the programmed end positions under closed-
loop control. Shortly before the slide reaches the end
position, it is braked so that it comes to a stop in the
end position.
In order that the slide remains in the end position, it is
pressed against the fixed stop, at maximum with a
pressure equal to the operating pressure.
Compared with pneumatic-impact drives with double-
solenoid control, this closed-loop procedure permits
higher positioning speeds. Also, the following measures,
which would be required for controlling a cylinder with a
single-solenoid valve, can be dispensed with:

the use of mechanical end position cushioning
(shock absorbers)
•
the maintenance of fixed stops.
Compared with pneumatic-impact drives with double-
solenoid control, the SPC-10 permits:
•
higher machine cycle times
•
less vibration of the system
•
lower maintenance costs.
