Frame Check and Light Deprivation
)5$0(&+(&.
Inspect the entire greenhouse frame for sharp edges or fasteners that could damage the cover during installation.
1. Verify that all frame members are properly secured and that all bolts and clamps are tight.
2. Recheck the frame assembly for sharp edges or clamps and bolts that may interfere with the installation of the
curtain. File or tape sharp edges as needed.
3. Reposition clamps and bolts as needed and tape all rafter pipe joints with 115199 stucco tape and/or duct tape to
protect the cover material.
4. Verify that the main building frame is properly and adequately anchored.
5. Clear the site around the building to prepare a staging area for the cover material.
LIGHT DEPRIVATION
When greenhouse and blackout system are installed completely, and the blackout system is in the "closed position",
there is potential for light leakage based on framework. Inspect the entire greenhouse frame for potential gaps
where external light could leak into the greenhouse. Many minor details and touch-ups will need to be taken care of
at the customer's discretion. A great deal of carefulness, craftsmanship, and throroughness is required, and proper
installation will eliminate most potential issues. 115198 black tape is included to seal gaps accordingly. Other customer-
supplied light sealing agents can also be used such as opaque foam, non-clear caulking, regular duct tape etc.
Below are a few example diagrams of trouble-areas in the framework where light may leak into the greenhouse.
ATTENTION:
It is recommended that the greenhouse film be installed next, however, depending on weather
conditions, it may be preferable at this time to complete the interior blackout system
before
installing the film cover.
This is an acceptable alternative, just ensure that the blackout material is not exposed to precipitation of any kind, as it
will jeopardize the integrity of the fabric. If choosing to install the blackout system before installing the greenhouse film
cover, skip to the blackout shade system installation pages, and then return to the following pages to finish installing
the film cover.
