Faulty attachment of the securing plate: 6c
Do not use to secure lead climber: 6d
The second, loose loop must not be used as attachment point for
securing yourself or a partner: 6e
Functional and Safety Check
Before starting securing, check correct insertion and trouble-
free function as well as the brake effect.
Be sure the braking plate is attached so it can move freely (also
refer to fi g 2a).
Smooth ropes, moisture or icing may negatively infl uence the
braking effect of the device. The braking effect must be checked
prior to every use. If no braking effect is detectable, although the
rope has been inserted correctly, the device must not be used.
ATTENTION
- At all time the brake rope must be held completely
with the braking hand!
Rope types to be used
Use only the rope integrated into the device by the manufacturer.
GENERAL INFORMATION ON SAFETY, PRODUCT LIFE,
STORAGE, CARE AND IDENTIFICATION
Safety notices
When combining this product with other components, the safety
aspects of the products may interfere with each other.
The equipment must be checked for possible damage (e. g. for
fi ssures and corrosion) before and after each use. It must be
ensured that the equipment is serviceable and fully functional.
The equipment must be discarded immediately if there is even
the slightest doubt as to its serviceability.
Warning! The products must be kept away from damaging
environments. This includes contact with abrasive and
aggressive substances (e.g. acids, alkalis, soldering water, oils,
cleaning agents), as well as extreme temperatures and fl ying
sparks. In addition, sharp edges, wetness and especially icing-up
can diminish the stability of textiles.
Aging and certain conditions of use (e. g. moisture) may
cause ropes to shrink; observe this when using them.
CLIMATE REQUIREMENTS
The permanent use temperature of the product (in dry condition)
ranges from approx. -20°C to +60°C.
LIFESPAN AND REPLACEMENT
The lifespan of the product mainly depends on the way and
frequency in which it is used and external infl uences.
Products made from synthetic fi bre (polyamide, polyester,
dyneema) are subject to a certain aging process even if they are
not used. This is caused by the intensivity of UV-rays and
environmental infl uences.
When the usable period has elapsed or latest at the end of the
maximum service life, the product must be removed from use.
Maximum lifespan
under optimal storage conditions (see
section on Storage) and without use: 12 years
Occasional use
Occasional and appropriate use without obvious wear and tear
and with optimal storage: 10 years.
Frequent or extreme use
If the product is used intensively with very high workload and
frequent straining, and/or is exposed to much dirt (sand, dust,
chalk) and mechanical abrasion (e. g. by rough, sharp-edged
rock), the safety reserves of the system may be exhausted after
only a few weeks of use; the rope then must be replaced.
The rope must be replaced immediately if its jacket is badly
damaged (so that the core becomes visible) or if the rope has
come in contact with chemicals; the braking device must be
replaced immediately if grooves become visible and/or the
device has been deformed, damaged or if malfunctions have
occurred.
Repairs may only be performed if the instructions of the
manufacturer are closely adhered to.
