INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Mountaineering, climbing and working at heights and in depths
often harbour hidden dangers and risks caused by external
infl uences. Risk of accidents can never be excluded. In order to
achieve maximum safety when mountaineering, climbing and
working at heights and in depths, safe use of equipment is only
guaranteed if it complies with industrial norms. For more detailed
and comprehensive information, please refer to relevant special
literature. The following instructions are important to ensure
appropriate and correct use of the equipment. However, they
cannot replace experience, responsible behaviour and
awareness of the risks inherent in mountaineering, climbing and
working at heights and in depths and do not release the user
from any personal responsibility.
Use of the equipment is only permitted to fi t and experienced
individuals or under appropriate guidance and tuition.
Users must be aware that poor physical and mental health can
jeopardise safety under normal conditions and in emergencies.
Before using the equipment, users must familiarise themselves
with safe and effective rescue procedures.
The manufacturer cannot be held liable if the equipment has
been abused or used incorrectly In all cases, the users or the
persons responsible bear the responsibility and the risk.
PRODUCT-SPECIFIC NOTES
Recommended use:
The more experienced mountaineer should climb fi rst: 1 and 1a
Attention: A dedicated securing method must be employed to
secure the lead climber, since the brake described in this
brochure must not be used for securing a lead climber.
Securing the top rope climber during climbing: 2 and 2a
Attention:
Be sure to prevent sagging of the rope.
Securing the top rope climber during descend: 3 and 3a
Attaching the top rope climber: 4a - 4d
Karabiner types to be used:
Fixing of the brake at the anchor point and attaching the top rope
climber require use of suitable karabiners with snap-action
automatic gates (e. g. the karabiner models shown in fi gure 5).
Be sure not to load the karabiners at their weak spots and ensure
they will not open (see 5a/5b).
Examples of unsuitable karabiner types: 5a and 5b
Inadmissible use of the system:
Do not use for vertical crossings: 6a
