PC Connection
Data Communication
Data Communication Available for the
FOMA terminal
Available data communication between the FOMA
terminal and PCs is classified in 3 categories: packet
communication, 64K data communication and data
exchange (OBEX
TM
communication).
Data exchange

You can exchange data such as images, music,
phonebook and mail between the other FOMA
terminal or PC, etc.
Packet communication
Packet communication is charged according to
the amount of data sent and received
*1
, and the
data is received at the maximum speed of 3.6
Mbps
*2
and sent at the maximum speed of 384
kbps.
Provided by Best Effort method, wherein
communication speed changes due to
communication environment, influence of
communication traffic conditions, and other
factors.
You can also access a corporate LAN connected
to the FOMA network.
Use an access point that supports FOMA packet
communication, such as DOCOMO Internet
connection service “mopera U”.
Packet communication is performed via the
FOMA USB Cable with Charge Function 01/02
(optional) to a PC or via a dedicated cable
connection to a PDA.
• When the packet communication is using overseas,
communicate by an IP connection (unavailable for
the packet transmission by the PPP connection).
*1: Note that the communication charge can become very
expensive when large files are sent and received.
*2: The communication speed is 384kbps at maximum for
both sending and receiving in the following cases:
• When you are outside the FOMA HIGH-SPEED area
• When you use packet communication with
DOCOMO PDA “sigmarion Ⅲ ” or “musea”
64K data communication
Regardless of the data amount, 64K data
communication is charged according to the length
of time the line is connected.

Use an access point that supports FOMA 64K
data communication, such as DOCOMO Internet
connection service “mopera U”, or ISDN
synchronized 64K access point.
64K data communication is performed via the
FOMA USB Cable with Charge Function 01/02 to
a PC or via a dedicated cable connection to a
PDA.
• 64K data communication is not available for
overseas service.
* : Note that the communication charge can become very
expensive when the line is connected for a long time.
