Syslog Messages parameters
As well as logging events to an internal log file and to a file on a USB flash drive, the router can log
events to a Syslog server.
To configure the router to send Syslog messages to a Syslog server
,
set the following values in the
web interface:
Send Syslog messages
When this checkbox is checked, the following options are displayed:
Send a Syslog message when the event priority is at least
n
The lowest-priority event that will generate a syslog message. For example, if this value is set
to
6
, only events with a priority of
6
or lower (
7
,
8
, or
9
) will trigger an automated syslog
message. To disable syslog messages, set this value to
0
.
Send a maximum of
n
Syslog messages per day
Sets the limit on the number of syslog messages that may be sent during any 24-hour period.
The intention is to prevent excessive alerts being sent when the event trigger value is set to a
high priority/low value (
1
,
2
, or
3
for example), such as a value that results in a large number of
syslog messages being generated.
n
Syslog messages have been sent today
A status message that indicates how many Syslog messages have been sent in the last 24-
hour period.
