5. Replace the Shock Absorber Assembly Elements

You must replace cracked rubber damper

Detail Steps/Work Items

Key Items/References

Remove the shock absorber assembly from the

airplane.

Refer to paragraph 4.A and 4.B.

WARNING:

DO NOT STAND IN THE LINE OF THE SHOCK ABSORBER

ASSEMBLY WHEN YOU REMOVE THE NUT. THE ASSEMBLY MAY

EXPAND WITH A LOT OF FORCE. AND CAN CAUSE INJURY TO

PERSONNEL.

Disassemble the shock absorber assembly.

Remove the adjusting nut from the shock

absorber assembly.

S

Remove the washer, and the rubber

damper.

S

Remove the shock absorber retainer, nine

spacers, and 10 rubber dampers.

If necessary, use heat to break the

adhesive.

Replace rubber dampers and spacers as

required.

(4)

Reassemble the 10 rubber dampers, 9 spacers

and shock absorber retainer in the reverse

order removed.

(5)

Install the washer and rubber damper.

(6)

Install the adjusting nut.

(7)

Adjust the shock absorber assembly.

Refer to Paragraph 6.

(8)

Install the shock absorber assembly on the

airplane.

Refer to Paragraph 4C.
