Before you touch internal components, verify that the system is powered
OFF and is unplugged.
Install or remove adapters in a static-free environment. The use of a properly
grounded wrist strap or other personal antistatic devices and an antistatic
mat is strongly recommended.
Pre-Installation Checklist
1.
Verify that your system meets the hardware and software requirements
listed in
“Hardware and Software Requirements” on page 1
.
2.
Verify that your system is using the latest BIOS.
3.
Check the adapter for visible signs of damage. Never attempt to install a
damaged adapter.
Installing the Adapter
Follow the instructions for your adapter.

To install the QLE8262 adapter, follow these steps:
1.
Power off the computer and all attached devices such as monitors, printers,
and external components.
2.
Disconnect the power cable.
3.
Remove the computer cover and find an empty PCIe x8 bus slot.
4.
Pull out the slot cover (if any).
5.
Grasp the adapter by the top edge and seat it firmly into the appropriate slot.
6.
Refasten the adapter’s retaining bracket.
NOTE
If you acquired the adapter software on a disk or from the Dell support
Web site (
http://support.dell.com
), verify the path to the adapter driver
files.
