VLT Aqua Drive Lab # 5
(MCT-10 & Time Based Functions)
Introduction
In this lab you will learn how to set up the real time clock in the VLT AQUA Drive
to simulate a golf course irrigation application. MCT-10 setup software will be
used to program the drive, which will make programming this easy. The VFD will
run in closed loop maintaining a constant pressure. The run command will be
issued internally by the RTC, and the sprinkler valves will be controlled with the
control cards’ digital outputs 27 & 29. When the clock is set there will be time
stamps on any alarms that occur.
Warning: Although the VFD has a built in clock,
it DOES NOT have battery backup. The clock will reset upon power loss. When
the timed functions are relied upon in critical applications, you will need to add an
option card that will provide battery backup for the RTC.
