Software Setup
You will want to start programming the drive from scratch. Performing an “initialization” will
reset all parameters back to the factory default. With power off, simultaneously hold down the
“status, main menu & OK” keys. Apply power and continue to hold the buttons for about 5
seconds after you apply power to the drive. If you were successful, the display will read “Drive
initialized [A80].
(setting parameter 14-22 to “initialize” and cycling power is an alternative method)
After initializing the drive, the first change to be made is parameter # 0-03. Changing this
parameter to “North America” will set any regional parameters to North American defaults.
After making the parameter change, if you press the “Status” key, you will notice that the drive
is now tripped on an “Alarm 60” External Interlock.
This is because parameter 5-12
automatically changes from the function “Coast Inverse” to “External Interlock”
Close the switch wired to DI 27 (S3) and the alarm can be reset. The drive will trip any time
this switch opens, simulating a safety situation or system problem.
Use the “Quick Menu” button, and then enter “Q2” to set the following parameters;
0-02 - Hertz
1-21 - Motor Power
1-22 - Motor Voltage
1-23 - Motor Frequency
1-24 - Motor Current
1-25 - Motor Nominal Speed
3-41 - Ramp 1 Ramp Up Time - 5s
(based on motor nameplate speed)
3-42 - Ramp 1 Ramp Down Time - 5s
(based on motor nameplate speed)
4-12 - 20 Hz
(protects pump from running below minimum recommended speed)
1-29 - Enable Complete A.M.A.
Enter the “Main Menu” and program parameter 5-40 (Relay #1) to “Run on ref/no warn”
This lab will require a pressure set-point to be entered, a start/stop command and a feedback
signal. Digital input 18 is programmed to “Start” by default. “Feedback 1 Source” is set to
analog input 54, which will be where the feedback comes in. You can verify this by checking
parameters 5-10 and 20-00. If these parameters are not set to those values, change them so
that they are.
