If the e.sybox units in the group to be created have different firmware ver
-
sions, it is necessary to make an update in order to align all the versions.
The update may also be useful to have new firmware available which adds
functions or solves problems.
Definitions used below:
Master: device from which a firmware is taken to load it in an e.sybox. The
function may be fulfilled by an e.sybox, an e.sylink or any other device
enabled for downloading firmware to an e.sybox.
Slave: e.sybox in the state of receiving a firmware update.
11.2 - Updating the firmware
The firmware can be updated by means of another e.sybox or by e.sylink.
Depending on the firmware versions present and on the device available
for programming (e.sybox or e.sylink) different procedures may be used.
During the firmware update the e.sybox and the e.sylink involved cannot
carry out pumping functions.
During the update the Slave e.sybox shows the message “LV LOADER
v2.x” and a bar indicating the progress of the update.
The update takes about 1 minute. At the end of this phase the e.sybox will
restart.
Once the e.sybox has restarted it is advisable to check that the expected
firmware has been installed. To do this, check the firmware version field
“SW V.” on “page VE” of the “User Menu”.
If any problems have occurred and the firmware has not been correctly
installed, follow the indications for solving the problems of the various pro
-
cedures described.
11.2.1 - Updating between one e.sybox and another
Updating between e.sybox 30/50 is always possible.
Updating between e.sybox units is possible only if one of them has a firm
-
ware version of 4.00 or more.
Updating can be carried out in 3 ways:
• Manual:
always possible in the case of e.sybox 30/50, while for e.sybox
the Master must have a firmware version of 4.00 or higher. It is not nec
-
essary to associate the e.sybox.
• Automatic:
always possible for e.sybox 30/50, while for e.sybox it is
possibly only if both the e.sybox units to be updated have a firmware
version of 4.00 or higher. It is necessary to associate the e.sybox.
• Semiautomatic:
not contemplated for e.sybox 30/50; in the case of
e.sybox the Master must have a firmware version of 4.00 or higher and
the Slave must have a firmware version lower than 4.00.
It is necessary
to associate the e.sybox.
11.2.1.1 - Manual updating
Requirements
•
It is carried out between 2 e.sybox units at a time.
•
Always possible for e.sybox 30/50, while in the case of e.sybox the Master
must have a firmware version of 4.00 or higher.
•
The e.sybox used as a Slave can have any firmware version.
•
The firmware version of the Master must be greater or the same as the
version of the Slave.
•
Association between devices is not necessary.
•
If several e.sybox units have to be updated the procedure must be repeat
-
ed each time.
Procedure
1. Switch off the electric power supply to the e.sybox to be updated and
wait for the display to switch off.
2. Go to page FW on the TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE menu of the e.sy
-
box you want to use as the Master and press the key [+].
3. On the e.sybox to be updated, supply power by holding down simul
-
taneously the [MODE] and [-] keys until the update screen appears.
4. Wait for the update to be successfully completed and for both ma
-
chines to restart.
Problem solving
If the update has not been successful, repeat the procedure.
11.2.1.2 - Automatic updating
Requirements
•
It is carried out between 2 e.sybox units at a time.
•
The e.sybox used as the Master must have a firmware version of 4.00 or
more. In the case of e.sybox 30/50 it is always possible.
