Chapter 4 Monitoring and Maintenance
Monitoring
Indicators
The RG-S8614/S8610/S8606/S8606 B allows you to monitor various system status by executing CLI commands,
including:
Module/board in-position status
Port configuration information and status
Fan and power supply working status
Temperature status
CLI Commands
RG-S8614/S8610/S8606/S8606 B enables you to monitor the system status using related CLI commands, including:
The fan in the equipment is provided with the fault monitoring signals. When the fan fails, an alarm will occur.
To replace the fan, first loosen the fastening screw on the fan tray.
Replace the failed fan with a good one.
Tighten the fastening screws of the fan tray.
For monitoring commands, see the configuration guide for the RG-S8600 series.
RG-S8614/S8610/S8606/S8606 B supports remote maintenance. If RG-S8614/S8610/S8606/S8606 B are
connected to the Internet, you can log into these switches via Telnet for remote maintenance using different
monitoring commands.
Hardware Maintenance
Boards
To replace a board, follow the operation guide stated in Installing and Removing Single-boards in Product Installation.
Ventilation System
The fan provides monitoring signals for fault alarms.
To replace the fan, first loosen captive screws from the fan tray.
Replace the faulty fan.
Tighten the captive screws.
Be sure to replace the fan within 2 minutes while the system is working.
Power Supply Maintenance
When the power supply fails, you only need to disconnect the power cable, loosen the two panel screws on the power
module, unplug the power module, replace it with a good one, and tighten the panel screws, and then connect the power
cables.
Replacing LCD
The LCD installed on the top of the RG-S8614/S8610/S8606 chassis is hot swappable. You can replace the LCD without
breaking off the operation of the device in cases of an LCD failure. To replace an LCD, do as follows:
1)
Handle the grooves on both sides of the LCD with your hands and then disconnect the LCD from the chassis. Do not
drag the cable forcibly.
2)
The cable is fixed on the circuit board with a DB-25 connector. Loosen the screws on the connector with a magnetic
screwdriver (you had better use the screwdriver shipped with the product) to prevent the screwdriver or screws from
contacting the electronic components on the circuit board.
3)
Plug out the cable properly. Do not drag the cable forcibly.
