MAINTENANCE
Read all of SAFETY and this section before attempting any procedure. Pay particular attention to Notices, Cautions, Warnings and Dangers.
Owner’s Manual
• Turn the fuel shut-off valve to the closed (OFF) posi-
tion at the fuel tank
• With proper ventilation, run the engine until the
remaining fuel in the system is depleted and the
engine stops.
• Remove both spark plug wire boots from the spark
plugs.
• Remove both spark plugs.
• Use a standard cylinder fogging oil or add one ounce
of 30-weight oil to each spark plug hole.
• Inspect the spark plugs before installation. Replace if needed.
• Rotate the engine several times with the starter before installing the spark plug wire boots on the spark plugs.
This will allow the fogging oil to coat the cylinders.
• Install the spark plug wire boots on the spark plugs.
• Turn the Key Switch to OFF position and remove the key.
• Secure the vehicle to prevent rolling while in storage.
AXLES
Front Differential
The only maintenance needed for the front differential during the first
year is the periodic inspection of the axle for lubricant leakage.
Unless leakage is visible, the lubricant must be replaced after two
years. Refer to the Service and Repair Manual for the fluid replace-
ment procedure.
Rear Differential
The only maintenance needed for the rear differential during the first
year is the periodic inspection of the axle for lubricant leakage.
Unless leakage is visible, the lubricant must be replaced after two
years. Refer to the Service and Repair Manual for the fluid replace-
ment procedure.
The front and rear differentials do NOT use the same lubricant. Extreme care must be used when topping off
or refilling the differentials.
The differentials use different lubricants. Do NOT mix oils in a differential. The front differential contains 6.1 ounces of
5W-20 weight gear oil. The rear axle contains 22 ounces of SAE 80 weight gear oil.
