Adjust both tie rods equally to get the correct toe-out. Hold the
tie rod (2) with an open end wrench, loosen the jam nut (1)
and turn the adjustment shaft (3) to move the wheel in the
necessary direction.
Check the measurement again at the front and at the rear of
the front tires. If the 1/4 inch toe-out is reached tighten the
lock nut (1) on each tie rod.
BRAKES
This vehicle has four wheel hydraulic disc brakes. The parking brake is hand operated. Check the fluid level at intervals
specified in the PERIODIC SERVICE SCHEDULE; if fluid leaks are seen or the brake pedal is soft, check the fluid level
immediately. If the brake pedal is soft, the brake system must be bled to remove air from the brake lines. Instructions for
bleeding the brake system are included in the vehicle repair manual.
Master Cylinder
The master cylinder is found below the front of the vehicle near the
driver side front wheel well. Before removing the reservoir cap, clean
any dirt or particles from around the reservoir and cap.
Check fluid level in the reservoir. The fluid level must be between the
MAX and MIN lines. Use clean DOT 3 brake fluid only.
To fill the reservoir, remove the cap and the diaphragm. Make sure to
keep dirt and contaminants out of the reservoir. Add enough brake
fluid to move the level up to the MAX line. Collapse and replace the
diaphragm and install the reservoir cap. Clean any spilled brake fluid
from the area.
To prevent damage to painted surfaces, clean any spilled brake
fluid from the area.
