January 2003 on the waste of electrical and electronic equipment 
(WEEE).

3. Tank

Cordivari

®

 tanks have been designed and built for use in the production 

and accumulation of hygienic-sanitary hot water by means of a thermal 
exchanger,  obtained  with  the  use  of  removable,  fixed  or  out  of  tanks 
exchangers, powered from various types of thermal energy sources 
(Thermal generator, Heat pump, Solar panel) which use water as thermo-
vector fluid.
Any use of this product differing from the use indicated in this document 
releases the manufacturer from any responsibility and will entail the 
forfeit of any form of guarantee.
The products covered by this document have been built in compliance 
with  Directive  2014/68/UE  (PED)  with  relation  to  pressure  vessels,  in 
relation to the fluid content and operating conditions provided for use.

3.1  Identification of tank category (Direttiva 2014/68/UE)

The full range of Cordivari

®

 tanks have values lower than the threshold 

values listed below:
•  Vessel designed to contain water (group 2) with vapour pressure at 

maximum allowable temperature lower than or equal to 0.5 bar over 
normal atmospheric pressure (1013 mbar) maximum working pressure 
PS > 10 bar, the product of PS • V > 10,000 [bar • L], PS > 1000 bar

•  Pipes  intended  to  contain  water  (group  2)  with  vapour  pressure 

at maximum allowable temperature lower than 0.5 bar over normal 
atmospheric  pressure  (1013  mbar)  maximum  pressure  of  10  bar, 
diameter DN PS operative > > 200 product and P.S • DN < 5000 [bar 
xmm]. 

Therefore, all Cordivari

®

 tanks, as stated in Art. 4.3 and Annex II, Tables 

4 and 9, are not CE marked.  However, Cordivari S.r.l. guarantees, 
as  established  by  the  Directive,  correct  structural  practices  (ensured 
by  the  Quality  Management  Systems  UNI  EN  ISO  9001:2000  –  UNI 
EN  14001:2004)  which  ensures  safety  in  the  use  and  manufacturer 
identification.

4.  Heat pump (HP)

The heat pump is a machine that has been designed and built 
solely for the production of hot sanitary water in civil 
environments,  incompatible  with  toxic  and  flammable  gases. 

Use  in  environments  where  the  air  is  mixed  and/or  altered  by  other 
gaseous compounds and/or solid particles is therefore strictly prohibited.

Use of the device for purposes other than those intended or non-
compliance with what is described in this manual will automatically 
invalidate any direct or indirect liability by the Manufacturer and its 
Distributors.
The heat pump is CE marked as dictated by the European Community, with 
Directives 2006/42/EC, 2006/95/EC, 2004/108/EC, and amendments.

4.1  Identification of Product

In compliance with Directive 2014/68/UE (PED) as well as 
with the regulations No. 812/2013 and No. 814/2013 issued 
by directive 2009/125/EC (ErP - Ecodesign Requirements 

for Energy-related Products) and by directive 2010/30/EC (Energy 
labelling  of  products),  the  technical  and  heat  loss  specifications 
together with the energy categories are written on the labels/technical 
sheets attached to product. Such labels/technical sheets must be 
considered as an integral part of these instructions for use.

4.2  Heat pump operation

The Heat pump module produces sanitary hot water using established 
technology that exploits the operating principle described below:
•  The refrigerant changes state in the evaporator by taking heat from the 

source at low temperature (outside air).

•  The compressor, which is the heart of the system, raises the energy 

level of the heat taken: the refrigerant, in fact, reaches temperatures of 
around 90°C as pressure increases.
