Chapter 3: Verification
The definition of the loops must be performed by a person with a good
knowledge of the CS4000 fire system. The operator must have the
authority to work in access level 4. The system is delivered either with a
complete system definition or a test definition.
The addressable detector loops can be tested before connection to the
central unit with a test device, SE3000, to verify the cable status and the
addresses of the loop units.
Loops
We assume that there are no communication problems in the system
since the cable has already been tested but each loop has to be verified.
The verification procedure is described below, step by step.
1. Make sure that the system is connected to external power supply.
See chapter 1 for electrical connection.
2. Power up the system. The POWER LED is lit and the text CS4000
FIRE ALARM or similar
is shown in the display. The system is now
up and running. Wait for a few minutes to let the system perform all
system checks. If the system detects a fault during the start-up, a
fault code is displayed in the control panel. For more information
about the fault codes, see
Appendix C: Fault codes & Fuses
.
3. Connect both A- and B-side of one of the loops to the LB3 loop
board (addressable loop units) or ZB zone board (conventional
detectors). Please note that conventional loops (zones) on ZB zone
board are not double fed and therefore have no B side.
4. Measure the voltage on the A side in the central unit. If all the loop
units are connected correctly (no polarity fault) the voltage should
be equal to about 30 VDC. If this is not the case, see
Polarity fault
later on in this chapter.
5. Only for addressable LB loops: Verify that the correct number and
type of loop units are installed in the correct place. The system will
provide you with the requested information if you use the
Menu
/6 service menu/5 loops
, choose the relevant loop and then press
2=Loops Units. If a loop unit is missing, see
Wrong number of
loop units
later on in this chapter.
6. One loop is now verified and tested. Continue with the next loop.
Repeat step 3-5 for the rest of the loops.
7. Make a fire detector test of the complete fire alarm system. See
Testing
later on in this chapter. Use appropriate test equipment
(such as: smoke detector test gas, heat detector tester) to test each
detector and loop unit. The test is documented on the printer
(option) connected to a central unit, or print out the “Fire alarm
history list” found under:
menu/7 History/1 Fire History List
. This
list contains the 500 latest fire alarms, but is cleared every time the
system is restarted.
