Solving Memory
Problems
If you encounter memory problems, some common causes and
solutions are listed in the following table:
Problem
Cause
Solution
System won't boot or
does not function
properly after installing
additional memory
modules
Memory module is not the
correct type or speed grade for
the system or the new memory
module is not seated properly.
Replace module with the correct industry-
standard device for your workstation.
Out of Memory error
Memory configuration may not
be set up correctly.
Use the Device Manager to check memory
configuration.
You have run out of memory to
run the application.
Check the application documentation to
determine the memory requirements.
Memory count during
POST is wrong
The memory modules may not
be installed correctly.
Check that the memory modules have been
installed correctly and that proper modules are
used.
Insufficient memory
error during operation
Too many Terminate and Stay
Resident programs (TSRs) are
installed.
Delete any TSRs that you do not need.
You have run out of memory
for your application.
Check the memory requirements for the
application or add more memory to the
workstation.
Solving SCSI
Problems
If you encounter SCSI device problems, refer to the common
causes and solutions listed in the following table:

Cause
Solution
System with IDE and
SCSI drives will not boot
from SCSI hard drive
The IDE drive is not disabled
through the Computer Setup
utility.
Under the Computer Setup Advanced
menu, disable the primary IDE
controller.
System without an IDE
drive will not boot from a
SCSI drive
The SCSI drive is not
configured correctly.
Ensure that drive cabling and jumpers
are set correctly. To boot a SCSI drive,
the drive ID number must be set to 0.
