ROCEDURES
This chapter provides subassembly/module level removal and replacement procedures for the
Compaq Deskpro 4000S and 4000N Series of Personal Computers. All steps described in this chapter
may not apply to all models as there are some physical differences between the 4000S and the
4000N.
After completing all necessary removal and replacement procedures, run the Diagnostics utility to
verify that all components operate properly.
CAUTION:
When the computer is plugged into an AC power source there is always voltage applied to the
system board. You must disconnect the power cord from the power source before opening the computer to
prevent system board or component damage.
5.1
Serial Number
The computer serial number should be provided to Compaq when requesting information or ordering
spare parts. The serial number is displayed on the right side of the system unit cover at the lower
front corner and also on the rear of the computer.
