Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
SNMP
Simple Network Management Protocol. An Internet-standard protocol for managing
devices on IP networks. It is used mostly in network management systems to monitor
network-attached devices for conditions that warrant administrative attention.
SSH
Secure SHell. A network protocol for secure data communication, remote shell services or
command execution and other secure network services between two networked
computers that it connects via a secure channel over an insecure network.
SSID
Service Set IDentifier. An SSID is the name of a wireless local area network (WLAN). All
wireless devices on a WLAN must use the same SSID in order to communicate with each
other.

VLAN
Virtual Lan. A logical subnetwork that can group together a collection of devices from
different physical LANs.
VSAT
Very Small Aperture Terminal. An earthbound station used in satellite communications of
data, voice and video signals, excluding broadcast television. A VSAT system consists of a
two-way satellite ground station and a stabilized VSAT antenna with a dish antenna that
is smaller than 3 meters.

Wireless LAN, wireless network
