Configuring SNMP
Note
Though visible in the command-line help strings, the
flash insertion, flash removal, fru-ctrl
, and
vtp
keywords are not supported. The
snmp-server enable informs
global configuration command is not
supported. To enable the sending of SNMP inform notifications, use the
snmp-server enable traps
global configuration command combined with the
snmp-server host
host-addr
informs
global
configuration command.
You can use the
snmp-server host
global configuration command to a specific host to receive the
notification types listed in
Table 29-5
.
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to configure the switch to send traps or informs
to a host:

Note
You cannot configure a remote user for an address without first
configuring the engine ID for the remote host. Otherwise, you
receive an error message, and the command is not executed.
