6. OPERATION/SETTING
6.3 Chart Feed Operation
(3) Fitting Chart Paper Time Line
•
Operate FEED key or feed the chart paper manually to fit the
dotter recording position/cartridge pen recording position and the
time line of the chart paper.
•
Fit the time line after the power is turned on.
(1) Chart Paper Feeding on Power On
After the power is turned on, a certain amount (3.6 mm) of the chart
paper is fed for eliminating the chart feed mechanism backlash
(allowance of mechanism) before starting recording (chart feeding).
Actual amount of the paper to be fed depends on the state of the
mechanism backlash.
After the mechanism backlash is eliminated once, when the power is
turned on again, 3.6 mm long of the paper is fed.
(2) Chart Paper Feeding
1) Feeding with Key Operation (Manual Operation)
Chart paper can be fed with manual operation with FEED key
(Refer to 3.2 Display Operation Part.).
Key operation

(One time press)
0.1 mm long feeding
About 0.3 sec. to 2 sec. or
less
(Continuous press)

pressed
About 2 sec. or more
(Continuous press)
Feeding with speed of 10 mm/sec.
* Continues while the key is being
pressed
*Operation is available at recording off (RECORD switch
off/INDICATE switch all off).
2) Manual Feeding
The chart paper can be fed by turning the chart feed gear forward
(downward).
For manual feeding, due to a certain constructional limit of
resolution, the time line may not be adjusted accurately.
Accuracy of Time Line Adjustment
Only feeding operation can be performed manually with the
chart feeding mechanism.
The chart feed mechanism backlash can be put back lightly;
however, further backward operation cannot be performed.
Otherwise it may be damaged.
Only Chart Paper Feeding Operation
Even if the time line on the chart paper is adjusted to the dotter
recording position/cartridge pen recording position, there will be a
gap (3.6 mm) on the time line of the chart paper caused by the
chart feeding function when turning power on again after a
momentary power interruption, etc.,
When Momentary Power Interruption Occurred
For time line fitting, put back the chart feed gear lightly until it
stops after the manual feeding to minimize the chart feed
mechanism backlash. Adjust the time line in this state.
Time Line fitting with Manual Feeding
For the pen type, there is a gap on the time line of the
recording position of each pens (7.1 refer to Recording
Operation (Pen type)). For the adjustment of the time line,
adjust cartridge pen recording position of the standard pen and
time line.
Time Line Adjustment for Pen Type
When the chart paper is fed manually, backlash of the chart
feed mechanism (allowance of mechanism) is generated.
Note that the chart paper is not fed for a specified period
depending on the state of the manual operation.
•
Method to minimize the period of no feeding of the chart
paper by the manual feeding
1. After the manual feeding, put back the chart feed gear
lightly until it stops, and then the chart feed mechanism
backlash can be minimized.
2. With the front FEED key operation, operate the FEED key
until the chart paper is fed, and then the time of no chart
feeding is almost none.
For Manual Feeding
Numbers of 1 to 24 are printed on the left side of the chart
paper at intervals of 25mm. This is a time scale for running
with the chart speed of 25mm/H.
