2. Status Indicator RAPs

CMT 130 Book Trimmer 

RAP 2.1 Fault Entry 

This RAP should be performed on every service 
call in order to correctly diagnose and trouble-
shoot the problem being reported. 

Initial Actions 

Clear all books from the trimmer and its acces-
sories in order to observe the machine in idle 
state. 

Procedure 

1.  Ask the customer to describe the problem. 

2.  Check that shop, compressed air is func-

tional and the machine's main air valve is 
switched on. 

3.  Switch on the trimmer at the power switch 

shown in Figure 2-1.  Does the console's 
backlight illuminate? 

Y  N 

Perform RAP 2.5 Input Power and RAP 2.6 
DC Power to confirm that all power sources 
are working properly.  Perform RAP 2.7 Dis-
play Backlight to verify operation of back-
light. 

4.  Push the green start button.  Does the con-

sole display any text? 

Y  N 

Perform RAP 2.6 DC Power to check the DC 
power supply. 

5.  Does the hydraulic motor start? 

Y  N 

Perform RAP 2.17 Starter Circuit 

6.  Once the gripper transport is in its home po-

sition, the display should show the “run” 
screen, which is a graphic of a book with di-
mensions displayed. Does this happen? 

Y  N 

Perform RAP 2.5 Input Power and RAP 2.6 
DC Power to confirm that all power sources 
are working properly.  If the gripper still is 
not moving, go to RAP 2.23 Servo Drive 
System. 

7.  Is there an error message on the screen? 

Y  N 

Go to RAP 2.4 Other Faults (No Error Mes-
sage). And perform RAPs associated with 
the corresponding fault. Did this resolve the 
problem?

Perform GP 6.2 Input Diagnostics (Sen-
sor Data) and GP 6.3 Output Diagnos-
tics. When complete, continue to Step 9

8.  Go to RAP 2.3 Faults With Error Messages 

and perform RAPs associated with the cor-
responding status messages listed in the ta-
bles.  Did this resolve the problem?

complete, continue to Step 9.
