RAP 2.49 Face Jog Sensors
Inputs 18 and 25
The face jog extends and rotates into position
during the book registration and aids in the book
registration process. It is retracted at all other
times.
Sensors detect when the cylinder is rotationally
retracted and linearly retracted.
Possible Fault Indicators

Face jog failed to extend

Initial Actions
Clear all books from the machine.
Perform RAP 2.36 Face Jog Cylinder to validate
operation of pneumatics.
Check for air leaks and disconnected or pinched
hoses.
Check for loose or broken wires 17 and 119 at
the power panel.
Procedure
1. Switch off main air.
2. Make sure the jogger is fully retracted line-
arly and rotationally. If not, retract it by
hand.
3. Switch on the machine and press A to enter
sensor data mode. Does the sensor data
screen display (18
-1
)?

Short wire 119 to wire 64 at the main PWB.
Does the sensor data change to (18
-1
)?
Y N
Disconnect main power and replace the
main PWB (REP 4.22 Main PWB Re-
placement).
Disconnect main power and replace the lin-
ear retract sensor (PL 5.16 Power Panel EE-
3306-1 (2/2)).
4. Disconnect wire 119 from the main PWB.
Does the sensor data change to (18
-0
)?

Disconnect main power and replace the
main PWB (REP 4.22 Main PWB Replace-
ment).
5. In sensor data mode, does the sensor data
screen display (25
-1
)?

Short wire 17 to wire 64 at the main PWB.

Disconnect main power and replace the
main PWB (REP 4.22 Main PWB Re-
placement).
Disconnect main power and replace the ro-
tary retract sensor (PL 5.16 Power Panel
EE-3306-1 (2/2)).
6. Disconnect wire 17 from the main PWB.
Does the sensor data change to (25

)?

Disconnect main power and replace the
main PWB (REP 4.22 Main PWB Replace-
ment).
7. For each sensor, loosen the sensor mount-
ing screw and slide the sensor across its
groove until the sensor LED switches on.
8. Tighten each sensor mounting screw to lock
the sensors in place.
