RAP 2.31 Registration Plate Extend

The registration plate extends during the jog,
and then retracts to provide clearance for the
book to move past the registration assembly. It
is located to the right of the table slot, behind the
internal exit conveyor, Figure 2-47.
Possible Fault Indicators

Book not cutting square

Book lost in machine

Book height cut dimension off by as
much as 1/2"

Plate remains extended, never extends,
or extends erratically
Initial Actions
Perform GP 6.15 Speed-Control Air Valves.
Check for air leaks and disconnected or pinched
hoses.
Check for loose or broken wire 116 at the power
panel.
Check that the wire connector for valve number
7A is connected properly.
Procedure
1. Manually activate valve number 7A by
pressing the actuator button on the valve
(Figure 2-48). Does the plate extend out-
ward approximately 1/2”?
Y N
Disconnect main power and replace valve
number 7 (PL 5.21 Pneu. Manifold Asm.
59012-1).
2. Electrically activate valve 7A by shorting
wire 116 to wire 74. Does the plate extend?
Y N
Disconnect main power and replace valve
number 7 (PL 5.21 Pneu. Manifold Asm.
59012-1).
3. Disconnect main power and replace the
main PWB (REP 4.22 Main PWB Replace-
ment).
