To set the Close Start option, proceed as follows:
1.
Determine the length of time the operator can be ‘off the air’ before he or she is required to satisfy the
Close Start ‘unlock’ requirement. This time may be set from 0.1 to 15 minutes, depending on the
application and user preference.
2. The person with the remote controller should assume a position on the ground at the desired distance to
unlock Close Start. This distance is typically 10 to 20 ft from the controlled machine where he or she can
visually observe all machine control functions.
3. Note which machine mounted antenna is closest to the person with the remote controller
– this will be
designated the Close Start Antenna. Record the number of this antenna
– this may be 1, 2 or 3, as
previously tagged and recorded when the triple diversity antenna system was installed.
4.
As a safety precaution, set the remote controller(s) power to ‘OFF’ and remove power to all controlled
machine motors before boarding the controlled machine.
5. Board the controlled machine, open the receiver/decoder and remove the lid from the electronics chassis,
or ‘Gold Box’.
6. Set the Gold Box
power to ‘ON’.
7. Instruct the person with the remote controller on the ground to apply power to the controller.
Note:
(1) If FCC Part 90 requirements apply to your PRC system, the controller will transmit a
continuous RF signal once power is applied.
(2) If FCC Part 15 requirements apply to your PRC system, you must also activate and maintain
a controller function that will not cause any movement of the controlled machine. This function
could be a horn, light or other indicator and must be maintained until you are instructed
otherwise.
Observe the Transmit LED on the controller which should flash green when the controller is transmitting.
Confirm that the green Carrier Detect LED on the receiver circuit board also flashes. This indicates that
the receiver is receiving a RF signal from the transmitter.
8. Press and hold both display control pushbuttons on the receiver until the following message appears on
the LCD display:
PROGRAM OPTIONS
*****MODE*****
It should be noted that all remote control functions on the controlled machine are disabled any
time the PROGRAM OPTIONS MODE is selected on the receiver. Therefore, activating a controller
function will not cause any machine movement.
Release both display control pushbuttons. The display now shows the first option to be set.
SET CLOSE START
LOCK-OUT TIME 2.0
2.0 is the previously set timeout value in minutes. This Close Start Lock Out Time represents the number
of minutes that can elapse in which the receiver does not receive a message from the controller with the
correct ‘unlock’ address. A new Close Start unlock requirement will be needed if this preset timeout
expires.
