Defining the Scan Options
When scanning an image, you define the following options on the Scanner
dialog box.

Scan Mode
This option enables you to specify the type of image you are scanning.
The scan mode determines a black and white or grayscale image, as
well as the resolution in dots per inch (dpi). You choose the option
that provides the appropriate level of clarity for your image. Generally,
a higher resolution provides better image quality.

Brightness
This option enables you to lighten or darken the brightness of your
scanned image. The option provides another method for improving
the quality of your scanned image.

Contrast
This options enables you to change the level of contrast in your
scanned image.

View After Scan
If selected, this option displays the scanned image automatically in
the Desktop Manager Document Viewer. In the Document Viewer, you
can review the image, add annotations, or export the document to use
with another application. If you do not select this option, you can
open the document later when you are ready to view it in the
Document Viewer.
When scanning an image, you review or define the following options on
the Scanner Advanced Settings dialog box.

Image Mode
This option enables you to select whether you want a black and white
or grayscale image.
If you are scanning the image directly into the Desktop Manager, you
may prefer to produce an enhanced image. If you are scanning the
image into a Windows graphic application, you may prefer to produce
a standard raw image, subsequently enhancing the image in your
graphics application.
