Initializing the External Hard Drive

Connect the external hard drive to the camcorder.

Initialize the external hard drive.

Touch thi s option if you want to phy s ically era s e all the data rather than
ju s t clear the file allocation table of the hard drive. For large-capacity hard
drive s thi s operation can ta k e s everal hour s .

If you s elected the [Complete Initiali z ation] option, you can touch [Cancel]

[O K ] to cancel the initiali z ation while it i s in progre ss . All recording s will
be era s ed and the hard drive can be u s ed without any problem.

S afely end the connection to the external hard drive before
phy s ically di s connecting it (

163).
• Be careful when deleting recording s . Once deleted, record-
ing s cannot be recovered.
• Initiali z ing the external hard drive will permanently era s e all
the data on the hard drive (including your recording s , previ-
ou s data not s aved with the camcorder, and partitioned
drive s ). Ma k e s ure to copy in advance important data to a
computer or other device.
