B. Jam Detection
The following paper sensors are provided to detect whether paper is present and whether the
paper is fed correctly:
• Paper top sensor (PS002)
• Paper delivery sensor (PS201)
The CPU determines whether paper jam has occurred by checking for the presence of paper
in the sensor at the timing stored in the CPU.
If the CPU determines that a jam has occurred, it stops the print operation and notifies the
jam to the interface controller.
1. Pick-up delay jam
The CPU assesses a pick-up delay jam if the paper does not reach the paper top sensor (PS002)
after the pick-up solenoid (SL001) has been turned ON three times within 7.9 seconds (includes
two pick-up retry operations.)
2. Pick-up stationary jam
The CPU assesses a pick-up stationary jam if the paper top sensor (PS002) cannot detect the
trailing edge of the paper within 7.8 seconds after detecting the leading edge of the paper.
3. Delivery delay jam
The CPU assesses a delivery delay jam if the paper delivery sensor (PS201) cannot detect the
leading edge of the paper within 3.2 seconds after the paper top sensor (PS002) detects the lead-
ing edge of the paper.
4. Wrapping jam
The CPU assesses a wrapping jam if the paper delivery sensor (PS201) detects the trailing edge
of the paper within 2.4 seconds after the paper top sensor (PS002) detects the trailing edge of
the paper.
5. Delivery stationary jam
The CPU assesses a delivery stationary jam if the paper delivery sensor (PS201) detects the paper
for 3 seconds after the paper top sensor (PS002) detects the trailing edge of the paper.
6. Initial residual paper jam
The CPU assesses an initial residual paper jam if the paper delivery sensor (PS201) or the paper
top sensor (PS002) detects paper in the initial rotation period.
Note:
Automatic paper delivery
When the paper top sensor detects paper after the power-ON or the soft reset by the
video interface, the paper is delivered automatically. After the paper is delivered out of
the printer, the printer becomes ready to print.
When the paper top sensor detects paper prior to the paper pick-up operation after a
pick-up command has been output, the printer immediately stops supplying the high-
voltage and driving laser/scanner unit and fixing unit, and then delivers the paper out
of the printer.
