Cause 6

Is the document loaded correctly?

Remedy

Remove the document, stack it if necessary, and place it on the platen glass or
load it in the feeder correctly. For more information, see “Placing Originals,” on
p. 1-32.

Cause 7

Is the one-touch speed dialing key or coded speed dialing code you registered
for the feature you want to use?

Remedy

Check the one-touch speed dialing key or coded speed dialing code and make
sure it is registered correctly. (See Chapter 8, “Speed Dial List.”)

Cause 8

Did you dial the right fax/telephone number?

Remedy

Try dialing the number again. If the number is registered for one-touch or coded
speed dialing, check that the number is correct.

Cause 9

Is the Energy Saver mode off?

Remedy

The machine does not scan documents, if it is in the Energy Saver mode. To
restore the machine from the Energy Saver mode, press (ON/OFF).

Cause 10

Is the other party’s fax machine out of paper?

Remedy

Contact the other party to check whether their fax machine is out of paper.

Cause 11

Did an error occur during sending?

Remedy

Print an ACTIVITY REPORT and check for an error. (See “Printing the
ACTIVITY REPORT,” on p. 5-6.)

Cause 12

Is the telephone line working properly?

Remedy

Make sure there is a dial tone when you press [Hook]. If there is no dial tone,
contact your local telephone company.
