Press the { J (R eturn) key to open a new text file.

Format Symbol: Appears when the format is changed.
As you type, the carrier moves accordingly just horizontally so that you
can see where you are typing.

Select the single line spacing, 10-character pitch, keyboard I, AUTO mode,
and OVERTYPE mode.
• Select the single line spacing with the LIN E key: the L IN E indicator
"1” comeson.
• Select the 10-pitch character with the P IT C H key: the P IT C H indicator
”10" comes on.
• Select keyboard I with the CODE + KB keys: the KB indicator T"
flickers. When you press any alphanumeric key, the indication "KBI”
appears on the status line o f the screen.
• Select the AUTO mode with the OPERA TE key: the AUTO indicator
comeson.
• Select the OVERTYPE mode with the IN SERT key: the indication
"OVR" appears on the status line of the display.
REM EM BER.. .The symbol ( E ) o f the format parameters appears in the
leftmost column at the beginning o f paragraph. This symbol indicates the text
format such as line spacing, character pitch, right/left margins, hot zone,
normal/decimal tab settings, and justification.
The symbol also appears when you change these format parameters. Even if you
change the format, you can retrieve the previous format later. Move the cursor
to the format symbol with the
(M argin Release) key and CURSOR keys.
Press the CODE + C O R R EC TIO N keys to delete the format symbol, so that
the previous format becomes effective. You can recover the deleted symbol by
pressing the ESC key immediately._____________________________________
