Electronic Thesaurus

The electronic thesaurus has the following two main functions.

• Scan Thesaurus Function — Finds the synonym of the word specified on

the display.

• Dictionary Synonym Function — Finds the synonym of the word you

type in the entry area.

The following table shows the working modes where you can activate the
thesaurus function. The symbol "O" indicates that the function can work in the
specified working modes. The symbol "X" indicates that the function cannot
work in the specified working modes.

Scan Thesaurus

The CODE + SCAN T keys activate the scan thesaurus function in the WP

TEXT EDIT, TYPE (screen edit modes like L/L and JUST) and PHRASE EDIT

modes. You can specify a single typed word or a two-word wording on the

display and activate the typewriter to look up the synonyms in the thesaurus.

When the typewriter finds the synonym, it enters the Thesaurus Mode. You
can select the proper synonym and replace the specified word with the proper

one. Note that you can specify only the word that appears on the display when

you are in the TYPE mode; for example, the word appearing in the single-line
text area in the L/L and JUST modes. Printed text cannot be specified. Use this

function to find a proper synonym of the typed word.
