When you type a compound word with a hyphen or separate a word by a hyphen
with the automatic carrier function activated, the typewriter checks two
components separately and it also checks a whole word including or excluding
a hyphen. If the word is acceptable in either way, the typewriter does not beeps;
if not, it beeps and enters the Corrector Mode.
The typewriter can check a word that ends with an apostrophe and a character
"s" or "t". It can check that the wrong wordings such as "go's" and "dom't" are
incorrect.
When you type a word in full lowercases, the typewriter looks up the word as
it is in the main and supplemental dictionaries: operation, function, etc. When
you type a word with an initial capital only, the typewriter looks up the word
as they are in full lowercases or as it is: Operation, Function, etc. When you
type a word in full capitals, the typewriter looks up the word as they are in
full lowercases, as with an initial capital, or as it is: OPERATION,
FUNCTION, etc. And in cases other than the above the typewriter looks up a
word as it is: operation, funcTion, etc.
Supplemental Dictionary
If you type a word correctly but the typewriter suspect it, that word is not
included in the main dictionary. If necessary, you can add it into the
supplemental dictionary to suppress the spell-check function. Unnecessary
words can be deleted from it on demand. To find what words you added in the
supplemental dictionary, you can print a list of added words. The supplemental
dictionary is battery backed up and the contents are protected for more than five
years against a power failure.
Adding Words
You can add up to 432 words (average length of 7 characters) into the supple
mental dictionary. The exact number of words that the supplemental dictio
nary can retain depends upon the word length. Every time you add a word
exceeding the capacity, the oldest word or the most infrequently used word is
automatically deleted.
When you add a word that ends with an apostrophe and a character "s", you don't
need to add the apostrophe and the character "s". When you add a compound
word that includes a hyphen, you need to divide the word in half and add them
separately. However, even if a single word is separated by a hyphen at the line
end, the typewriter can check that word as a single one. Therefore, you don't
need to divide a word in half for such cases.
