The Ypush can be used in a conventional way
without any of the powered features needed to
transport the occupant safely.
This can be useful if charging has not been
possible or to extend the range of the vehicle.
To drive in manual mode, simply remove the on/
off (ignition) key from the Ypush.
Braking:
remains fully functional. (Refer to
braking section of this manual) Full braking is
applied when both of the push handle levers
are released. Each brake can be independently
applied by progressively relaxing grip on the
attendant handles.
Each of the push handles has a built-in brake.
Releasing the handles completely applies full
braking. If one handle is released more than the
other, then one rear wheel will slow more than
the other. This feature enables better control
when descending slopes if direction of travel
needs adjustment. In normal use, evenly reducing
“squeeze” on the levers will apply even braking.
Steering:
The Ypush may be steered by applying
left or right sideways force to the push handles in
exactly the same way as it would be on any con-
ventional transit wheelchair.
