Caution
While cleaning the air filter element, check for any
damage and replace if necessary.
To preserve the life of the engine, never start the
engine without the filter element installed.
Cleaning a foam type filter
1. Fill a large pan with an incombustible cleaning
solution. Immerse the filter element into the
solution and wash it.
2. Press the filter element with both palms to
squeeze out the cleaning solution. Never twist the
filter element as this will damage it.
3. Soak the filter element in the engine oil tank and
squeeze oil out, keeping it slightly wet.
4. Reassemble the filter in reverse order to the
instructions given above for removing the filter.
Ensure that the filter element is firmly fixed in its
correct position and reliably sealed.
Caution
Before and during check the filter for any cracks.
If any are found, replace the filter.
