3. RECESSING/FITTING
It is recommended that the fi replace* not be insulated at all since it is better that air be allowed to
fl ow around the fi replace. Check the certifi cate of compliance of the fi replace for the measurements
of the empty space to be left around the fi replace (see the User Manual).
WARNING: The decorative chimney must have air intakes to allow for the air fl ow required for the
fi replace’s operation (see chapter 4 below).
Above the fi replace: do not put any brickwork on the fi replace. Under the fi replace: leave enough
space for the fan (290 mm high) or for convection air circulation (50 mm).
TYPE OF MATERIALS
- COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS:
Must not be placed in the immediate vicinity of the fi replace, of the hot
air outlets, or of the chimney fl ue. Note: hot embers can be projected
several metres when the door is opened or when using the fi replace with
the door open.
The safety distance for fi replace fi tting depends on the degree of fl amma-
bility of the materials used (see NF DTU 24.1 and 24.2 standards).
- NON-COMBUSTIBLE AND INSULATING MATERIALS:
Use “HIGH TEMPERATURE” materials such as certain rock wools. In
any event, these materials must not come into contact with the convec-
tion air (DO NOT USE GLASSWOOL).
WARNING! Never place any combustible items (including furniture) within a one metre radius of the
front of the fi replace (heat radiation zone), particularly during open door use.
* If the fi replace is set against an outside wall of the house, it is preferable to insulate the fi replace
from the wall to avoid heat loss.
