RECOMMENDATIONS
The chimney fl ue must be built in compliance with industry practices of which
the following are the most important:
- Minimum height: (distance between the connection and the top of the chimney
stack) must be 5 m.
- Section:
Chimney*: Ø 200 (Ph 75) or Ø 250 (Ph 85, 95 and 120)
Hot air vent: Ø150
Combustion air intake: Ø 110
- The fl ue must be thermally insulated.
- The chimney stack and its positioning are very important. The chimney
must have a cap to prevent rain water from entering the fi replace. Ask
the advice of a chimney expert (devices that narrow the smoke outlet
must be avoided).
- The chimney outlet must be protected from wind disturbances.
- The presence of obstructions near the chimney outlet must be taken
into account
- An individual fl ue cannot change directions more than
twice.
The angle of these changes to the vertical must
generally not exceed 20°, or 45° for a fl ue made of
smooth metal which can be no longer than 5 m.
- The fl ue must enable recovery of soot (cleanable).
- Connect only one fi replace per fl ue
EXISTING FLUES:
It is standard practice to check for watertightness, emptiness, general
stability, and fi replace compatibility (diameter-section) and, if required, the
fl ue must be lined and the stack modifi ed.
FIREPLACE-CHIMNEY CONNECTION USING AN EXISTING FLUE:
Use a duct or adapter connected to the fi replace collar or on a rigid or
fl exible stainless steel pipe (as straight, vertical and smooth as possible)
in order to facilitate the fall of residue into the fi replace when the chimney
is cleaned.
* Reducing the section is only possible in certain very specifi c cases.
Contact your dealer or a chimney expert to check if it is possible with your
confi guration.
