Point splitting
Operating the machine
Procedure
-
Adjust the set values C, D, E and F for the required
drill according to the setting sheet on page 33
-
Grip swivel arm and turn to the right as far as the
stop
Warning : cutting and grinding wheel is
automatically switched on
-
Swivel grinding spindle against the drill
Warning : reduce grinding depth using screw
A so that the cutting and grinding wheel does
not touch the drill

Using adjust nut B, slide the grinding face of the
cutting and grinding wheel almost as far as the drill
center
-
Carefully adjust grinding depth using screw A until
the drill is lightly ground
-
Move grinding spindle away from drill
-
Separate
-
Push clamping chuck forwards
-
Rotate clamping chuck
180º (2-lip drill)
120º (3-lip drill)
-
Allow collet holder to latch
-
Adjust second cutting edge as described above
-
Swivel drill back in front of the sapphire glass and
check grinding. The drill can be centered through a
suitable adjustment in directions A (using screw A)
and B (using adjustment screw B).
Warning : please note that the cutting edge on
the lower side of the drill is visible on the
sapphire-lens.
The point splitting grinding wheel is
switched on automatically when the
swivel arm is moved to the right.
Thanks to the various settings, the cutting edge can be
adapted to individual requirements.
