Switching outputs in SIO/IO-Link mode
SIO mode
The factory default setting is for the digital output Q1 as
PNP switching output. The switching logic of Q1 is
normally open.
By default Pin 2 is configured as an analog current output
Iout
. It can be changed through IO-Link to a switching
output

The digital switching outputs Q1 and Q2 can be configured
independently through IO-Link. For the output type
parameter 0x00B4 can be used to choose between PNP,
NPN or push-pull. The output Q2 can also be configured
as an analog output.
The switching logic can be set through IO-Link as normally
open or normally closed. Q1 is set using parameter
0x003D, and Q2 using parameter 0x003F.
IO-Link mode
Pin 4 is the communication channel (C). Pin 2 is always
high-impedance.
The switchpoint information for Q1 in SIO mode
corresponds to SSC1 in IO-Link mode. The switchpoint
information for Q2 in SIO mode corresponds to SSC2 in
IO-Link mode. When toggling between IO-Link and SIO
mode the settings (switching logic, switchpoints) remain
unchanged.
The switchpoint for SSC1 can be taught using the button
or through IO-Link. The switchpoint for SSC2 can only be
taught using IO-Link.
When operating with NPN output on an IO-Link master
IO-Link communication is still possible, but in SIO mode
the switching state is not evaluated.
When the counting function is enabled other configurations
are possible for Pin 4 and Pin 2 in SIO mode (see Section
