6.3 Smart Sensor Replacement
Bacharach’s Smart sensor technology allows new sensors to be nstalled
wthout needng to be calbrated nsde the analyzer.
NOTE: Sensors may be purchased with and without the Smart sensor technology
PCB. See Section 6.4 on how to change just the sensor itself. Calibration must be
performed if the sensor is purchased without the Smart technology PCB. Refer to
Section 8.1 Replacement Parts for list of sensors and part numbers of both types.
Replace the oxygen sensor when its automatic calibration fails and the ana-
lyzer displays an O
2
sensor error at the end of warm up. Refer to Section 4.2.
NOTE: The O2 sensor and PCB is not Smart sensor technology. Only the sen-
sor itself, not the PCB, needs to be purchased when the sensor needs replaced.
Replace a gas sensor when t can no longer be calbrated, as evdenced by
“Bad Calbraton Sensor End of Lfe” beng dsplayed durng ts calbraton
procedure. Refer to Sectons 5.6 thru 5.10.
Refer to Secton 8.1 for a lstng of sensor part numbers. Also, see
Fgure 6-2 on page 6-3 for sensor postons.
Do the followng to replace a Smart sensor:
1. Turn OFF the analyzer.
2. Remove the battery cover.
3. Remove the sensor retaner.
4. Remove the tubng from the gas
cup of sensor beng replaced.
5. Unplug the sensor along wth
ts prnted crcut board from
the analyzer’s man board.
6. Remove the sensor’s gas cup
by twstng ts bayonet fttng
counterclockwse, and then
pullng the cup straght up.
7. Attach the gas cup to new sen-
sor, makng sure that when the
sensor s plugged nto analyz-
er’s man board, the tubng connectons on top of gas cup are algned
as shown n Fgure 6-3 on page 6-4.
8. Plug the sensor nto analyzer; and then reattach tubng to gas cup.
9. Install the sensor retaner and battery cover.
10. Turn ON the analyzer and confrm that no sensor errors occur durng
warm up.
