A permanent I/O area (I/O address) and an interrupt must be
assigned to
FRITZ!Card
in the PC in order to enable it to be
managed. The I/O area is both set directly on the card and also
specified in the software. The interrupt is entered only in the
software. The time at which these settings are required depends
on the installation procedure in the operating system in ques-
tion and is described in Chapter 3 “How to Install Fritz!Card”.
For how to enter the interrupt and the I/O area in the software and
how to change this entry, see Chapter 3 “How to Install Fritz!Card”.
Before delivery, the hardware and software of
FRITZ!Card
are
set up in such a way that problem-free operation is to be ex-
pected.
FRITZ!Card
is set to the I/O area (I/O address) 300 and
the interrupt 5. If these values are already being used by an-
other plug-in card, it is necessary for you to set a new I/O area
and interrupt. Owners of sound cards should note that these
cards often use interrupt 5.
The I/O area (I/O address) on
FRITZ!Card
is set by positioning
a so-called jumper. Each position of the jumper corresponds to
a certain I/O area (I/O address). The corresponding I/O ad-
dresses are printed on the card alongside the row of jumpers.
To set a new I/O area (I/O address), proceed as follows:
1.
Hold
FRITZ!Card
with the component side upwards and
turn the
FRITZ!Card
connections to the right.
The following illustration shows the jumper position set
for the I/O area (I/O address) 300 at delivery time.
