ODUspe Cable Grounding
Cable ground kits are included in the ODUspe Cable Kits. Installation instructions
are provided in the kits.
For tower/mast installations cable grounds must be installed at:
• The point where the cable comes on to the tower from the ODU.
• The point where it leaves the tower to go to the equipment building.
• Not more than 25 m intervals on the tower if the height on the tower exceeds 50 m.
• A point just prior to building entry.
Figure 3-8 on page 3-16 shows typical tower locations for cable grounding and
lightning surge suppressor.
Ensure the cable grounds are correctly weatherproofed. For instructions, see
.
Until weatherproofed, ensure all moisture is kept away from cable grounds.
At non-standard installations, such as building tops or the sides of buildings, follow
the same general guidelines but where proper grounding points are not provided
these must first be installed. Refer to Aviat Networks’
Best Practices Guide
.
NOTE:
The ODU cable assembly includes a ground wire at the ODU end of
the cable, which must be fastened on to the ODU grounding stud,
along with a ground wire to directly ground the ODU to the tower/
mast.
Cable ties
