Chapter 3. Eclipse Edge Installation
grease must be applied so that it will provide a full surface seal around the ring and
to the ODU and antenna feed mating surfaces.
• For 7 / 8 Ghz, fit the O-ring to the antenna feed head.
• For 13 to 23 GHz, fit the O-ring to the ODU feed head.
NOTE:
A tube of silicon grease is included in ODU installation kits.
4. Carefully fit the coupler to the antenna, and fasten using six M8 x 20 mm bolts.
Tighten bolts to correct torque: 20 Nm.
5. To remove a coupler, reverse this procedure.
To fit the ODUs to the coupler, refer to
ODUspe Attachment Procedure on page 6
Installing ODUspe Cable and Connectors
NOTE:
The ODUspe cable must comply with Eclipse Edge requirements and
be installed with the specified ground kits. If incorrectly installed,
the Aviat warranty may be voided.
The ODUspe cable is industrial-grade Cat 5e compliant (similar to Belden 7921A). It
has a UV and oil-resistant industrial grade PVC jacket, with an outer diameter of 8
mm (0.33 inches). Shielding is by foil and tinned copper braid, which includes a drain
wire. The minimum bend radius (installation) is 3.5 cm (1.33 inches).
Then cable has four pairs of 24 AWG solid copper conductors. Maximum conductor
dc resistance at 20 degrees Celsius is 9.38 Ohms/100 m.
The ODU cable is connected to standard Cat5e jumper cable, for indoor connection
to the IDUspe. The standard Cat5e has a nominal 5.5 mm OD, which assists easy
routing and front panel connection to the IDUspe.
The interface is provided by either the optional surge suppressor, or the RJ45
socket-socket connector assembly provide in the ODU cable kit.
The ODU Cable Kit is available in 50m or 90m lengths comprising
:
• ODU cable assembly with a weatherized RJ-45 connector and ground wire at one
end, and either terminated or unterminated at the other.
• A shielded RJ-45 connector, for terminating the ODU cable at the building end.
• Jumper cable assembly. Cat5e shielded with one end terminated with an RJ-45
connector.
• RF-45 socket-socket connector for interconnecting the ODU and jumper cables. (Not
used where the lightning surge suppressor is installed).
