Note:
The setup procedure is in most cases unnecessary due to Windows' default
network settings. For example, the default DHCP setting in Windows 2000 is
'client', requiring no further modification. It is advisable however to follow the
setup procedure in order to verify that all communication parameters are valid
and that the physical cable connections are correct.

3.1.1 Windows

1.
Access 'Network Connections' from the Control Panel.

Right-click on the Ethernet connection icon, and select 'Properties'.

Under the 'General' tab, select the 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' component, and press
the 'Properties' button.
4.
The 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' properties window will be displayed.
5.
Select the 'Obtain an IP address automatically' radio button.
6.
Select the 'Obtain DNS server address automatically' radio button.
7.
Click 'OK' to save the settings.
