Selector Lever Boot, Separating from
Selector Lever Handle, Vehicles
through MY 2012
Removing
– Remove the selector lever handle. Refer to
⇒ “1.8 Selector Lever Handle, Removing and Installing”, page
– Bind the selector lever handle spring tabs -A- together with
cable ties -B-, as shown in the illustration.
– Slide the selector lever boot sleeve -C- over the tabs on the
spring tab in direction of -arrow-.
– Remove the cable ties and the selector lever boot and sleeve
from the selector lever.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Selector lever boot installed position
• The longer side of the selector lever boot frame faces the driv‐
er side.
– Install the selector lever handle. Refer to
⇒ “1.8 Selector Lever Handle, Removing and Installing”, page

Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Trim Removal Wedge - 3409-
♦ Thin cable ties or the assembly aid for the button on the han‐
dle. The assembly aid is already installed at the factory when
a new handle is ordered.
Removing
– Press the button on the electro-mechanical parking brake to
activate it.
– Move the selector lever into “N”.
Note
Both the selector lever handle and the selector lever boot are re‐
moved.
