7.14.3 Replace Ultrasonic Handpiece cord
Tools Needed: Needle nose Pliers, Wire Cutters or Scissors
WARninG:
electrical Shock
1. Turn off main power and
air supply to unit.
2. Run Air syringe to relieve
compressed air in system
3. Locate the ultrasonic
bulkhead that attaches under delivery system (Fig.
7.14.3-A)
4. Locate the bulkhead inside the cart and follow
the attached wires to the ultrasonic board. Pinch
the black plastic fitting to disconnect the wires
from the board harness (Fig. 7.14.3-B)
5. Follow the clear waterline tubing inside the
ultrasonic cord to the straight through barb/
connector and cut connecting blue tube from the
coolant control valve. (Fig. 7.14.3-C)
6. Locate bulkhead inside cart and loosen the black
plastic nut with Needle nose pliers turning counter
clock-wise, then remove.
(Fig. 7.14.3-D)(Fig. 7.14.3-E)
7. On the new ultrasonic cord, remove the black plastic nut. It is just like the one you
removed in step 6 (Fig. 7.14.3-F)
8. Feed new wires and tubing up through the existing hole in the baseplate.
9. Once tubing is through the hole, re-string the black plastic nut onto tubing and tighten
using Needle nose pliers, like Step 6 (Fig. 7.14.3-G)
10. Re-connect the black plastic fitting to connect the wires to the board.
11. Locate both ends water line tubing. One will be inside the new ultrasonic cord (clear tubing); the other will be coming
from the control block (blue tubing). Using supplied sleeve, place sleeve over the clear waterline tubing, then using
supplied straight through barb/connector insert barb into clear waterline tubing, then push the sleeve over barb after
the tubing is seated. Repeat for other tubing to join both ends together. NOTE: pulling back on tubing while sliding the
sleeve over, will help seat and secure the sleeve. (Fig. 7.14.3-H)
12. Close the delivery system top, turn on unit and run the ultrasonic to test proper connection.
